Welcome Back. Happy 2012. I'm really excited about the items in the new Occasions Mini Catalog and the Sale-a-bration collection of products that are available this year. Especially the Designer Series Paper Everyday Enchantment. The color combination is very elegant: Very Vanilla anchored with Soft Suede and highlighted by Calypso Coral, Pool Party and Lucky Limeade. The last 3 are from this years set of In Colors. This card also uses the Apothecary Art stamp set from the Occasions Mini Catalog. I love that it matches the new Framelits Labels Collection that Stampin' Up! is now offering for the Big Shot. Enjoy the card and please stop by again soon.

Best laid plans...
So much for continuous posting...well, there is still some time and I still have some designs ready for posting. Here's another card made using the My Friend stamp set and some fun colors: Early Espresso, So Saffron, and Pear Pizzaz. I love the silhouette stamp in this set. The leaves and flowers have a great line and look good in all different colors. The designer paper is from the Pocket full of Posies grouping. I used the Floral Fusion Sizzlits Die and distressed each flower so it divided into 2. If you put the "fuzzy" side on the outside, you get a great textured bloom to put on the card. Enjoy!

Waste Not!
My mother always quoted this to me when I was a kid (actually, she still does and quotes it to my kids, as well.) When I saw this particular sheet of Designer Series Paisley Petals paper, I knew I had a mission. Create a set of cards, one-sheet-wonder style, without wasting a single shred of this paper. Well, "mission impossible" some might say, but with help from the classic "Make 10" idea from years ago, it actually worked! The result? Fourteen very pretty cards using select pieces from the Designer Paper. I'm pretty happy with the results. I'll be sharing them over the next few days as my hard-drive space will allow. I hope you all enjoy the first 2 here.

Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Marina Mist, River Rock
Paper: River Rock, Marina Mist, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White, Designer Series Paper Paisley Petals
Accessories: Designer Label Punch, Boho Blossoms Punch, Jewels Pearls, dimensionals
Design number 2. This is again from the whole Make 10 design idea. However, I added my own flair to it. Instead of tearing the Designer Paper (as in the suggested sketch), I chose to add a piece of coordinating Cherry Cobbler (which was torn) behind. Don't worry, I used the rest of the Cherry Cobbler, too.
Stamps: Four Frames, Silhouette Sentiments (hostess)
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Not Quite Navy, Marina Mist

Cheers for a Birthday!
This is a quick and easy birthday card for the Martini crowd. The Cheers to You set is a fun set full of cool beverages. The Beer/Root Beer mug also fits on this tag. So does the Margarita (barely), so if you wanted a different look/drink you could make it work. The triangle patterned paper is from Greenhouse Gala Designer Series Paper. I used the Bigz XL die Tasteful Trim to get the Crumb Cake border. I love that it matches the pattern on the paper. And guess what? You can use scraps to make these! If you're cutting down a 8.5x11 sheet of paper to get trimmed-down 1/4 sheets (5.25 x 4), use the 1/2" scraps and cut some triangle trim! There's the fun scrap tip of the day. Enjoy.

Birthday in Green and Mustard
Here's a study in Woodland Walk. I needed a birthday card for the church auction bunch, so I came up with this interesting scheme. The two Chocolate Chip scallop squares are in relief while the Crumb Cake scallope square is on top of the Wild Wasabi paper. Just different.

Same layout, different take.
Here's the "Thank You" version of the Baby Layout. This is a very useful layout. Just pick a letter and go. (That B could go fro Birthday, as well.) This one uses the new Designer Series Paper Shades of Spring. The great thing about the designer papers is that you get an automatic color pallet to work with. This one is Orchid Opulence, So Saffron, Certainly Celery and Pretty in Pink. Enjoy.

Polka Dots, Baby!
I seem to be using a lot of Polka Dots, these days. But this one is a really quick baby card. I took the layout from one of the sketches in the current issue of Paper Crafts Magazine. I used simpler color scheme, though. This could be changed up in blue for a boy, as well. Change the letter to a "T" and make it a "thank you" card, too. In fact, I just might do that for tomorrow. Smile!

Simple Valentine
Here's a really simple Valentine/Love You card. Color scheme is Pretty In Pink, Rose Red and Very Vanilla. The flourished die is from the Stampin' Up! Lots of Tags Sizzlit Dies. I really like that it fits around that wide oval punch so well. The small heart is punched with the new design punch from Stampin' Up! as well. The Designer Series Paper is from the Specialty Paper Sending Love. It's got some great glittered texture on it, which may not come through in the picture. The stamp is from the Well Scripted set from the Occasions Mini Catalog. Happy Wednesday.

Mystery Hostess Projects
These are the projects I designed for my Sale-a-bration Mystery Hostess Workshop this weekend. I'll show close ups, too, so you can see them. We're playing with lots of new stuff.
"With all my Heart" Treat holder. This uses the Stampin' Up! Bigz Die "Two Tags" to make the outside holder. Cut two tags, use sticky strip to attache them together at the bottom fold, and you have a holder. I got the idea from the Demonstrator portion of the Stampin' Up! website. The stamp is from With All My Heart (clear mount version). Who knew the small heart punches out with the small heart from the Heart to Heart punch? Cool! Here's what else I used:Stamps: With All My Heart (clear mount)
Ink: Real Red
Paper: Real Red, Pretty in Pink, Very Vanilla, Specialty Designer Series Paper Sending Love
Accessories: Punches Heart to Heart and Full Heart, 5/8-inch Satin Ribbon Pretty in Pink, Stampin' Up Embosslits Die Scalloped Heart of Hearts, Stampin' Up! Bigz Die Two Tags, Big Shot Machine, dimensionals.
Happy Moments 3x3 card:
This card uses the Sale-a-bration Stamp Set Happy Moments. It's a cute card to go with a gift.
Stamps: Happy Moments (Sale-a-bration set)
Ink: Basic Brown pad, Markers (Realy Red, Old Olive, Crushed Curry, Soft Suede)
Paper: Soft Suede, Old Olive, Crushed Curry, Very Vanilla

Last One: I (heart) Hearts Valentine Card
Stampin' Up! will donate $2.00 from the purchase of this set to the Red Cross efforts to help Haiti. It's a cute set. Mine is clear mount. I really like the way it saves space. I'm still not converting everything I have because I like the way the wood blocks feel. However, the Stampin' Up! acrylic blocks are really nicely weighted and are a good substitute.

More Butterflies.

This is an Easel card. I found the pattern for it on splitcoaststampers.com. It's a neat idea because the card stands up when you open it up. This is the outside cover. The size is a regular medium card size when finished (4-1/4 x 5-1/2 inches) I used the new single butterfly stamp from the Occasions Mini Catalog and the Well Scripted stamp set. Here is a picture of the inside of the card when it stands up, as well. The Scallop Trim Border Punch is the one that's available during Sale-a-bration! A very good deal.Stamps: Well Scripted, Butterfly Accent

More Vintage Vogue
The more I use this set, the more I like the flowers. They cut out or punch out easily and have a nice subtle edge to them. I also really like the new Beautiful Wings Embosslits die. The butterflies are really interesting. (Yes, Cindy W., butterflies...just for you!) The frame is the Sizzix Bigz Scallop Oval Frame die in Crushed Curry. The background paper is from Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Series paper. As usual, I'm punch happy with the ovals and the Boho Blossom punches. Tax-Day Congratulations!
A fitting way to self-congratulate on Tax-Day. A cute Cheers to You card! I don't always post ideas that I copy from someone else, but I really liked the way my version of Karen L.'s card turned out. (She's another demonstrator and it was posted on the corporate showcase, a nice perk for us to be able to see some great artwork. Many thanks, Karen!) I used different designer paper and less scallops for a clean look. But I love that olive! What a great idea, toothpick and all. Here's what I used:Stamps: Cheers to You

Have a Cold One
Happy "Back-to-Blogging" day! Here's a fun card for any of your favorite Frosty Beverage-loving friends. Made with the "guy-card" idea in mind, but it would work for anyone unwinding with a cold one. Yes, that's "foam" on there. I found a tube of (old) Liquid Applique (I wish we still carried it! Fun stuff!) and puffed it up with the heat tool to make the froth frothier. I also used a clear Glaze pen to get the glass mug to look a bit more realistic. You could also use Crystal Effects from SU for a similar look, but I'm out of it right now. The card is cut so it flips open the long direction (Cut the base to 4.25 X 11 and score at 5.5") Here's the recipe. Hope you enjoy the card, your week. I'm happy to be back. Stamps: Cheers To You
